Fun things to do in Vienna - experience the city at second glance
Vienna is different and so are some of the things that the cultural capital of Austria has to offer. As is well known, a lot is said about the city itself: it is the most livable city in the world, the Viennese are grumpy and cheeky. But the fact that Vienna can also be really weird and “different” is often overlooked. That's why we've collected the most unusual things to do in Vienna here for you.
Snail factory in 1010 Vienna
If you are looking for an unusual activity in Vienna, you will find it in the Viennese snail manufacturer “Gugumuck”. Everything revolves around the well-known Roman snail: from May to October, guided tours are offered directly at the snail field. A guided tour costs 19 € and also includes a tasting of Viennese snails with herb butter and a glass of “Wiener Gemischter Satz” or an non-alcoholic drinks. In the farm shop you have the opportunity to browse through the products of the manufactory.
Down the mountain at high speed
Hard to believe, but true - in Vienna there is actually a summer toboggan run in the popular district of Penzing. It doesn't matter whether it's a fast rush or a leisurely glide: the Vienna summer toboggan offers an unforgettable experience for you and your loved ones on the approximately 850-metre-long route. With top speeds of 40 km/h, rapid curves and a final jump, the toboggan run is a very special kind of activity.
For the culinary supply, the gastronomy area offers healthy and delicious cuisine for big and small appetites. You can then relax on the cozy chill-out terrace.
Happy hustle and bustle in the wild water canal
The Vienna Watersports area in the 22nd district has a particularly unusual venture for all water sports enthusiasts: the country's first artificial whitewater course with international standards - suitable for young and old.
Three pumps ensure ultimate bathing fun, transporting up to 12 cubic meters of water per second over the 250-metre-long whitewater course. Variable obstacles can be used to create constant whitewater of varying degrees of difficulty for kayaks, rafts and swimmers.
After a general safety briefing and first dry runs, you have the opportunity to let yourself be carried away by the whitewater. Kayak and paddling courses can also be booked through the Kayak Academy by prior arrangement.
Well then, get in the water and let's go!
